In Design and Technology this half term, Year 1 have been learning about the importance of healthy food choices. We have also designed our own fruit kebabs, and this week we have had the opportunity to make them. The children discussed the importance of washing their hands and ensuring the fruit was clean. The children then peeled bananas and tangerines. The children also used the bridge hold to slice apples and bananas. The children were very sensible and assembled amazing kebabs. Well done Year 1! 🍌🍓🍎
In Computing this half term we have been learning all about algorithms and the importance of instructions. Today, the children worked in pairs to make their Bee Bot move to follow their intended route. The children discussed different possible routes the Bee Bot could take and then they tested these with their partner. G.P "You have to make sure you press the 'X' to clear the instructions before. Otherwise it just goes round and round." E.M "I tried to make it go right then left and forwards. It worked!"
Today the children from Year 1 Owls had the opportunity to visit Cookridge Court Care Home. The children performed "Somewhere over the rainbow", created a piece of artwork using oil pastels and baked scones to deliver to the residents. The children loved the visit and it was so special making this link to our local community. M.H "I loved the care home, it was so awesome. I liked singing for them." M.K "I loved talking to the old lady in the wheelchair, she was kind. She said she was a doctor in the olden days." 🌈🌈🌈
